Photo of the Week

A few weeks back we got a great Adventure Team Photo of the Week from Stan J. Koy. And now Stan’s back with another incredible photo of his Adventure Team crew out at work. This one comes from the old days of the Trenches calendar. What a fantastic shot here, with Joe teaming up with his modern UK counterpart, Action Man.

And don’t forget to check out Stan’s previous AT Photo of the Week: Right Here!

We just love all the work that went into creating this diorama. Don’t let Stan have all the fun, submit your own Adventure Team photo at Adventure Team Photo of the Week and your photo could appear right here on this website, just like this one!

It’s time for another Adventure Team Photo of the Week this time from over at the Action Man Mobile Ops Forums where ActionYankee showed off this great kitbash of a 40th Action Man fuzzhead. This is the sort of intense battle we could see any Adventure Team fan falling into. And while this is technically the AT’s British cousin, it’s still a fantastic photo.

When trouble happens, call the Blue Berets for some serious artillery!

He’s dubbed this guy the Blue Beret Heavy Weapons specialist, and you can see why. Here’s what this is comprised of: Action Man Blue Beret Soldier ( Named Sean), 1 40th Action Man Infantry and Support Weapons set, several sandbags, a Timeless Joe Bazooka and Shells, and a Timeless Joe Holster and .45. Now that’s an arsenal anyone would be fearful of!

We’ve got a fun shot this time for our Adventure Team Photo of the Week! We’re certain that the Sea Adventurer will love this one from Mike Burke‎. It depicts the Sea Adventurer about to send one of his fellow AT members on an important dive. It looks like they’re already submerged deep in the depths of the ocean in the Sea Wolf submarine.

Find that submerged satellite and come home safe Joe!

Yep, this one is going to be a tough assignment… But GI Joe can handle it!

Is it a week? Then it must be time for another Adventure Team Photo of the Week! This week we get an exciting photo from Daniel Preece‎, who crafted this cool shot of a custom Adventure Team Headquarters playset. He whipped this up in Photoshop and printed it out himself. Just check out the boys on duty, preparing for another world-class adventure!

"Stand by for Adventure!"

“Stand by for Adventure!”

Here’s what Daniel had to say about the photo, “Back in my graphic arts days I fancied building my own AT Headquarters using the “flat image walls” that were in style in the 70s. Here are two panels I came up with using Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I think I got the pics from the Not Your Average Joe website. Map was from Google. The rest is made up, inspired by the ATHQ itself.”

It’s been a while since we’ve done an Adventure Team Photo of the Week but it seemed like now was a good time to get back into things. This photo is from Stan J. Koy, posted up on one of the Facebook Adventure Team groups. Hopefully Stan doesn’t mind us reposting here, because it’s such a nice bit of photography. And it’s pre-digital era too, which makes it even sweeter.

Now that's a volcano jumper!

Now that’s a volcano jumper!

Here’s what Stan had to say about the photo, “Proof once again that The Adventure Team Has The Situation Controlled! My still favorite- a muscle body Land Adventurer whom restarted my 12″ Joe passion in the late 1980’s, here on my honeymoon in Hawaii, hiking the Iki Trail on Kilauea on March 20th, 1998! I was on a budget- so that was an orange jumpsuit and not the Volcano Jumper one…but I’ve fixed and completed that for him since!”

Another week, another Adventure Team Photo of the Week! This time it’s in the form of a custom Action Man figure, taking up the mantle of one of the earliest Adventure Teams! It’s Robin Hood! This photo is from Reddragon over at the Action Man Mobile Ops forum. It’s a great custom, which not only captures the spirit of the Robin Hood character, but also the versatility of these classic toys. Robin Hood is one of the most famous adventurers throughout history and it’s a surprise that with all the various costumes that were created for GI Joe throughout the world, that Robin Hood was never one.

No Bryan Adams music needed!

The bow and arrow were custom made, as was much of the outfit. Proof that just a little ingenuity and a lot of care, can make GI Joe head to adventures in any time and any place!

We have another all new Adventure Team Photo of the Week pitting the Adventure Team against it’s biggest challenge yet… Godzilla! This photo is from chevy2who in his Flickr photo stream. What makes this photo unique is that it combines the classic Adventure Team GI Joes, with a nice perspective shot against Mattel’s Shogun Warriors Godzilla. These are two sets of classic 70’s toys, set to do battle in what is no doubt an epic adventure.

Watch out for that rocket firing fist, Joe!

“As a kid this was one of my favorite mash ups Adventure Team vs. Godzilla. Zilla and the Adventure Team guys had countless battles against each other,” says chevy2who of this photo. What a great idea! I’d guess a lot of kids who had the Adventure Team put their guys up against the mammoth Gojira!

We’re closing out a busy week here at ATHQ with another Adventure Team Photo of the Week! This time it’s from Michael Hinchman from the Adventure Team Headquarters Facebook group. He’s put together this great custom grey flocked muscle body GI Joe with all the trimmings. He looks like a bad mamma jamma, because he is!

"Age ain't nothing but a number, baby!"

This older adventurer looks like he’s still got a lot of life left in him. Mess with this dude and he’ll make your back crack and your liver quiver! It’s only our second Adventure Team Photo of the Week, but this one is a nice tribute to the majesty of an Adventure Team figure. Here we see the Air Adventurer, in all his vintage glory, sitting with a well weathered but still beautiful vintage box. There’s even the original paperwork! Now that’s a nice looking fella.

From now on, once a week we’re going to highlight a special Adventure Team Photo of the Week. This can be any sort of photo, whether it’s a fan submission, a photo we take ourselves or even a vintage shot from the team. There aren’t any rules, just cool Adventure Team love. If you’d like to see your photo featured, feel free to email us at Adventure Team Photo of the Week and your shot could be shown right here.

First out the gate is a fun photo from Hiss Tank member Dragonrider1227.

Dragonrider1227 shows off some cool Adventure Team customs.

What makes this photo unique is the the custom clothing on both of these vintage Land Adventurers. Not only is the clothing custom, with a great Indiana Jones feel to it, but the heads have been transported to modern Hasbro GI Joe bodies. It’s a really unique set and both guys look like they’re ready for some serious action.

We rarely see Adventure Team love over at Hiss Tank, so it’s nice that Dragonrider1227 was there to show the world what the real GI Joe is all about!
